I suspect there are more of us that are average than “plus” size but the big advertising agencies, TV, and movies have all brainwashed us into thinking that the stick thin, no-curves female is normal. Not so! It is not automatically unhealthy to be a plus size woman. Being thin is not inherently healthy. See your doctor and if your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar are OK, relax. If not and you want to lose weight to avoid weight related health problems, eat more vegetables and fruit. Go for a nice walk. A little exercise can lead to a longer healthier life.

Big beautiful women (and MHM, Big Handsome Men) have some special needs when traveling, especially air travel. On most domestic flights you will need a seat belt extender. Although most airlines offer these, you have to request them and not all airlines are sensitive to the larger person’s needs. You can also request an empty seat next to you on the plane to get a little extra room. However these are only available if the flight is not sold out.

There are so many options now for the plus size woman that were not available even 10 years ago. I am encouraged that society really will accept people of all sizes and stop categorizing us.
