7 Reasons Why People Do Not Live With Purpose

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Wednesday 27 February 2008 12:13 pm

The majority of the people who cross your path will never discover their life purpose. As Thomas Carlyle says, “The man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder — waif, a nothing, a no man. Have a purpose in life, and, having it, throw such strength of mind and muscle into your work as God has given you.”

You may wonder how anyone could go through life without truly discovering their purpose, but statistics now tell us approximately 97 percent of people never do. It is sad to think about. We must be certain we are part of the percent that do. Here are 7 major reasons I have discovered why so many never determine or fulfill their destiny.

Listed below are seven reasons why so many individuals never discover their purpose. I ask for your willingness to be objective and read what I have written with an open mind. It just may change your entire future.

1. They don’t seek the Creator.

Let’s take a building, for example – any wonderful building in your favorite city or town. How is it that we know there was a builder for this particular building? We can’t see him, hear him, touch, taste, or even get a whiff of his scent, can we? But the building standing before you is tangible proof of a builder. In fact, we couldn’t get better evidence than this building, fixed upon the ground, standing proudly before our very own eyes. We don’t need faith to know that there was, indeed, a builder.

Likewise, when we look at creation, how can we be certain that there was a Creator? How can we know that He truly exists? Well, creation itself proves there is a Creator. There could be no creation without Him. God created you, and He’s telling you, “Seek and you will find.” He made you for a purpose, but only those who seek Him ever discover that purpose.

2. They don’t believe they have a purpose.

Here’s where some of us have a real problem. Some people erroneously believe that God has not given them a purpose, thus they don’t even bother to search for one. This is no different than when men believed the world was flat. Why lose my life searching, if there’s nothing to find? That belief stopped many men from discovering the New World. But if you’ll believe, you will be pleased to discover a whole new world waiting out there, specifically for you.

3. They don’t believe they are worthy of a purpose.

Read carefully through this short list of questions, pondering how they apply to your current circumstances. Ask yourself: Do I deserve success? Do I deserve to fulfill my dreams? Do others deserve to achieve their destiny more than I do? Do others have more right to be happy than I do?

Often, we focus on our inabilities in order to avoid answering piercing questions such as these. Subconsciously, we search for reasons why we shouldn’t succeed. The truth is, however, that fulfilling your destiny is not something to be deserved. It is your right and your responsibility to God and to the rest of mankind.

4. They are unwilling to search it out.

Have you come to the realization, yet, that some people are just plain lazy? These folks want others to tell them what their purpose is. They are so lazy that they won’t even take the time to search it out for themselves! If you refuse to seek, then it is guaranteed that you will not find. Don’t wait for life to bring you everything you want – life doesn’t happen that way. You must go after it. Pursue until you find!

5. They associate with others who lack purpose.

An American proverb states: “Those that lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.” It is a proven fact that we become like those with whom we associate. The quality of your life is entirely dependent upon those you call “friend.”

Are your friends people of purpose? Are they at a place in life where you aspire to be? Do they challenge you to discover and pursue excellence? Solomon said it like this, “Walk with the wise and you shall be wise. Walk with fools and you shall be destroyed.” I hope you are beginning to see that if we walk with those who lack purpose, we’ll soon walk through life as they do – with no purpose. I’ve determined not to live my life that way. How about you?

6. They settle for mediocrity.

Here is another factor for us to consider: Whatever we invest into this life is what we are going to get out of it. Too many are content to settle for a well-paying job or one that offers secure benefits. People settle for living a comfortable life instead of striving for what they really want. That is mediocrity – living a life without struggle and change. Don’t allow your comfort zone to hold you captive. And don’t make decisions based on what seems to be safe. Why not labor wholeheartedly toward your unique purpose, no matter what obstacles that effort might entail? If you do, in time you’ll gratefully realize that doing so is the only road to genuine prosperity and distinction.

7. The fear of responsibility.

Finally, we must concede that some folks don’t want to know their purpose because of the responsibility that comes with that knowledge. They feel they can disregard their God-given responsibility by crawling through the escape hatch called “ignorance.” But listen carefully – nothing is further from the truth. Why? Because each one of us must give an account to God for our assignment here on earth, whether or not we even knew what it was. That is why it is so important to discover our purpose and, once discovered, to wholeheartedly fulfill it.

As we think upon the direction of our lives, we realize that this list is not exhaustive by any means, but it should help us understand why we may be having difficulty discovering our purpose. You will never possess what you are unwilling to pursue. Make the decision today to never stop your pursuit until you fulfill your destiny.

Take Action:
1. Ask God what is your purpose.
2. Believe you have a purpose.
3. Believe you are worthy of a purpose.

Happy New Year

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Saturday 23 February 2008 12:13 pm

“The best year of your life begins today.” -Alan Cohen-

Here we are into the bright fresh new year of 2008. With all of our new resolutions, our lists of all the things we are going to accomplish, all the projects we are going to start and the ones we are going to finish, the people we are going to meet and the differences we are gong to make for ourselves, the community and the world.

We are full of gusto and can’t wait to get started, we make our lists and start filling in that new clean daily planner and start organizing all of our ideas and plans. This is almost as exciting as making out our Christmas Lists for Santa when we were kids.

Then life sets in, our new hair cut turns out funky, the car has a flat, we forgot the one most important ingredient we wanted in the main dish for dinner at the store; traffic is backed up on the way to work and you are a half hour late for an important meeting and on and on ad infinitum. Our New Year bubble has been popped – what to do-

My suggestion is to gather affirmations for each page of your daily planner while you are inserting your great new appointments and projects for the new year, ones that motivate you – center you – empower you – you can find these online. You can also purchase daily card decks like (Abraham Hicks) and draw a card a day to carry with you on a daily basis.

Life is bound to set in for us, we just need to be prepared for it and have our “tools” ready so we can maintain our First Day of the year excitement and keep it new and fresh all year long.

Namaste, Darlene Siddons

Edgar Allan Poe is No More, But Here is A Poet to Open Heaven’s Door!

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Sunday 17 February 2008 12:13 pm

Edgar Allan Poe

Through life circumstances

You did grow

Trials and tribulations

Came your way

Yet you rose from within

And by your writings and poems

You did win.

Certainly gambling is not good

But using one’s God-given talents

A young man should

Hence I have set forth

To be a poet like you

I understand what you went through

My mother struggled

With the bottle and drugs too

Yet Poe, I am here

To tell you

That your personal struggles

They made you

They also gave you

The ability to feel

So you could identify and heal

Your heart’s agony

Concerning abandonment

A deep tragedy

Your adopted father Allan

Disowned thee

West Point dishonorably discharged thee

Your cousin and wife Virginia died prematurely

It was then you wrote

Your famous poem “Annabel Lee”

In losing love

You gave it

Your world collapsed

But for others you made it

Baltimore’s best

Life’s unexpected unalterable events

Continually put you to the test

Undoubtedly Edgar

By heaven you were blessed

I pray to God

Your soul to rest

No need for depression or restlessness

From a gutter to glory

Your written works

Your life story

“The Tell-Tale Heart”

“A Dream Within A Dream”

“The Happiest Day”

Edgar you’ll never go away

You unveiled

Another dimension

Removing illiteracy and apprehension

An amazing legacy

Loved and admired by many

Edgar you are alive and well

Though you never made it

To see your new fiancée

Your spirit and heart made it

To me your protege.

How Niche Marketing Gets You Ten Times The Results

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Thursday 14 February 2008 12:13 pm

Niche Marketing is important so you can hone in and focus your marketing. One of the main concerns I hear from clients is “I don’t want to leave anyone out.” Or “How do I know what my niche is?” This type of thinking tends to stop people from actually Niche Marketing. The problem then is lack of focus on a particle area.

When looking at your business or practice in order to set yourself apart you want to have a specialty. This is where you shine the brightest. You would choose an area you know and love. For example if you are a life coach and you know all about weight loss and health instead of marketing your self as a life coach in general your niche would be fitness and your focus health you can even go as far as to call yourself a “Fitness Coach.” Your target can be anyone of course that is interested in health and weight loss. But you always want to have a target audience.

Niche Marketing …Creating your Niche of Expertise.

To narrow down your niche start with what you are passionate about. Write a list of the things you love to do. Then write a list of the things you know how to do. From that list you will see the obvious pop out. If you have two areas that seem neck and neck always go for the one you love the most. If you choose a niche you love then you will prosper. The energy you get from doing something you are connected to is powerful.

Niche Marketing …Creating your Niche Statement

This is where you get your HUB statement. That is the hottest unique benefit you offer. This should be one sentence that explains what you do. Once you say it people know right away what to expect from your business or service. For example I am a life/business coach. My HUB statement is: partnering with entrepreneurs and professionals to create balanced lives while earning more money.

From that statement you know who I work with, what I do and what you get (the benefit). And you know all that in under a minute. That statement can easily fit on your business cards. I also use it on all my advertising as well as on my signature line in all my correspondence e-mails and it is on my web site.

My niche is small business marketing. I chose that because I know how to market a small business so it becomes successful in its first year and then keeps on growing. I have done that in the past and it comes naturally and easily to me. I also love being apart of building something new and watching it grow. It seemed natural that I would then partner with professionals to accomplish the same thing I have accomplished and guide them to that same success.

Niche Marketing … What About the Rest of the Business Out There?

This doesn’t mean that other type of people won’t go to you for your services. They will and you can then choose to help them or refer them out. This brings up another reason for networking with in your industry. If you choose to only work with people in your niche be prepared to give referrals to your colleagues and to receive them as well.
Not only will you have an excellent reputation for only taking clients that truly suit you but you will build trust among those clients you do take on.

Your career will become easy and carefree as well. You will be working with the type of people that you click with. You both will be going in the same direction, and therefore your energy together will propel both of you toward greatness. You will bring out the best in the client and visa versa.

In creating these types of business relationships you will get referrals by the dozens. You will have more business then you know what to do with when you stick to doing what you love with the type of people that have the same love.

Niche Marketing …Knowing Where to Put Your Advertising Dollars

If you are networking on the Internet and your niche is health then you will want to find as many health web sites and health theme networking sites as you can. This is where you will find the people that are interested in your business or service. Many of these sites are free and I list quite a few of them in my article Small business marketing tips. Once you are on these sites networking becomes easier if you are niche marketing.

In order for you to get business, people have to trust you. It is easier to build trust if you are focusing on a particular area and becoming an expert in that area, then covering everything and not really gaining any area of expertise.

Wishing you all the success the universe has to offer!

What If?

Posted by admin | Uncategorized | Sunday 10 February 2008 12:13 pm

Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger, of brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people, sharing all the world

John Lennon

It was an experience that I’ll remember for a long time to come. Not that it was overly energetic or ground breaking, but I’ll remember it for what it created in me: a hunger to learn about others. A week or so ago, Judy and I decided that we’d like to have some friends over for dinner on Saturday evening. So, before planning what we’d cook, we decided on who we could cook for. We have been blessed with a lot of great friends, and we could have had 10 of them over and had a wonderful time, but we decided that we wanted to do something different. We wanted to have people over who would add an element to the conversation that we couldn’t get every day. We wanted to have a conversation with people who could really give a different perspective on what we hold for granted living here in Canada. This being said, we decided to invite one couple from this area who are absolutely wonderful at making people feel comfortable, another couple who are friends of ours who hail from Jordan but now live in Saint John, another couple from Jamaica who is currently attending college here in Sussex, my daughter Shannan and her boyfriend and my 16 year old daughter Lauren.

Well, the day went perfectly, but what stands out most for me was the conversation that we had with Majd, a stunningly beautiful and articulate young woman from Jordan. Just as we were having a short lull in the conversation, her husband Souraj said, “Majd, tell them about your experiences in Ramallah.” She then told us a riveting story of what happened when she was going to college in Ramallah, Palestine. She told us of how one evening when they were in their dorms they heard the thunder of hundreds of tanks rolling into town, and how, for 21 days, they were prisoners in their own rooms, forced to sit in the dark and listen to the bullets and bombs outside as the city was virtually flattened by the tanks. They spent the time talking, praying, searching for food and just waiting. One person, after a week or so of being trapped inside his room, looked out his window to see what was happening, and he was shot.

I’m glad the room was slightly dim and that I was on the other side of it, because everyone would have seen a tear or two from me, though, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. “How could this happen?” I thought. What is happening to the prime directive that was and is the cornerstone of each and every religion that I know of; Love your neighbour.

Those visions stayed with me most of the evening and long into the night. As I lay in bed at three in the morning this morning, I started thinking:

What if people put their hatred aside and actually listened to each others needs and wants, would that stop the wars?

What if people respected the ideas and beliefs of other nations and religions, would that create dialogue?

What if people actually got along and discovered that there was no need for borders any longer, would that stop the killing of innocent people?

What if life wasn’t about how much you can make or how high and how fast you can climb the corporate ladder, would that stop the poverty?

What if people did one thing a day to help someone else without asking for something in return, would that help to create a sense of connectedness?

What if instead of incarcerating people for crimes against others and locking them behind walls out of sight of people, we taught them how to get along, would that help stop crime?

What if everyone did as we did last evening and shared a meal with people from other nations, customs and religions, would that build a world of understanding and friendship?

What’s your “what if”? Better yet, what are you willing to do to create peace in your communities or in your world? Are you waiting for the politicians to solve the world, country, provincial or local crises? If that’s the case, you’ll be waiting a long time, because it seems that if there’s no political or personal gain in a process for someone, then there’s a good chance that nothing will get done. Lately, politics seems to be all about ego than anything else. No, if something is to be done, it is us, you and me, who must do it. Look at what happened in the Ukraine when the people said “enough!”

This week, why not do what Judy and I did. Get to know the people who are traveling in this world with you. Seek out different people from different cultures. Invite them into your home to share a meal and do what you can to make them feel at home. Just get to know and understand them: What you’ll find is friendship, what you’ll create is peace.

Make this your best week ever!
